Program Summary

A Better Man, Inc. was founded on the basic premise that men can have greater opportunities for success and be more equipped to overcome the obstacles placed in their path through learning how to help and how to be helped by others. Program objectives target improving emotional health, increasing effectiveness in working towards personal goals, and greater engagement in one's family life and community.

The A Better Man Challenge provides men with the opportunity to participate in online life coaching services, self development workshops, and interactive webinars. Certified life coaches, trained and supervised by a licensed clinical psychologist, provide e-mentoring services to men who are looking to become more proficient at mastering life's obstacles.

While we expect that all participants will experience increased life satisfaction and overall effectiveness; we are committed to identifying the skills, strategies, and resources that are critical to the success of men of color across larger society. It is our belief that this program will significantly contribute to reducing the stigma attached to mental illness as well as highlight the importance of mental health awareness in a paricularly underserviced population.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE A BETTER MAN CHALLENGE?

The "A Better Man Challenge" is 90 day program designed specifically for adult men, who are looking to commit to themselves and becoming better at life. Participants will receive bi-monthly life coaching sessions and monthly skill building webinars in an effort to increase their ability to positively impact the world around them. All participants must be registered for the program to receive all the services available.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

This program is designed for all men over the age of 21 who have a desire to be better. As the program has been developed from a multicultural perspective, we believe that men from any race, color, or ethnic background can benefit from these services.

WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM START?

Registration for the A Better Man Challenge begins on January 1st, 2014, and the formal program begins on March 1st, 2014. Men interested in getting a headstart on becoming a better man are encouraged to register for the program as soon as possible because they will have early access to webinars, interactive forums, and email correspondence with a life coach.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND COUNSELING?

Coaching primarily involves planning and strategizing to accomplish an identified set of goals and objectives, while counseling involves the explorations of the underlying emotional issues that impact overall functioning. A Better Man, Inc, does not provide counseling services, nor its it intended to be used as a diagnostic tool for psychological problems. Interactions between the participants and the life coaches do not constitute a therapeutic relationship. Please continue to consult with your primary provider or seek psychological, or psychiatric help from a licensed service provider.

WHAT IS E-MENTORING?

A one-to-one, non judgmental relationship that provides support and motivation through phone calls, email, and video conferencing. Some portions of the program require computer and internet access.

IS THERE A FEE FOR THIS PROGRAM?

There is no cost associated with participation in the "A Better Man Challenge." All services are provided thanks to the generosity and support of people and organizations who donate to this very important cause.
